gotyourwallet: ([ pause ] proud like a god)

[ 2-7 ] [ audio / commentlog ]

[The comm clicks on to a heavy breath. There's a pause before Vie speaks, and when she does her voice is lacking it's usual enthusiasm. Instead Vie's tone is quiet but firm, an attempt at hiding any emotion but failing more than she would like to admit.]

Marco.

[Another pause. This is harder than she thought.]

You have my loyalty. I will aid you in whatever way I can, just as I did him.

[And that's all you get. She's forced calm for long enough for today. Vie shuts off the comm and lets it drop to the ground beside her.

Anyone passing along Deck 12 might notice a young woman sitting against the door of room 1212. She's hugging her knees to her chest and staring blankly ahead. Not wanting to believe that she's lost her closest friend once again, Vie is waiting. Silently she prays to every god she's ever believed in to bring him back, or at very least protect Godric and everyone else that's vanished without a trace where ever they are now.

Vie refuses to think any of those lost to be dead.]

(ooc: She won't be much for conversation right now. Vie's not taking the loss of Godric very well. This is the third time that she's let someone in only to lose them a short time after. She's got a pretty short fuse and is severely lacking patience. If she snaps, it's nothing personal. Vie's a bit of an emotional wreck right now. In time she'll be back to normal. For now? approach at your own risk. :<)

I understand, to be perfectly honest with you as well.

[Tarrant. The Hatter. Her Hatter. He was here so briefly, and now...vanished, just like Godric.

It was impossible, though Alice has learned very quickly since her return to Underland and her adventures here on the boat that the impossible is very nearly always possible indeed.

That does not mean it is always a good thing.

She decides to voice her thoughts, still quiet.
]

It seems impossible for a particular set of people to simply and suddenly and without warning vanish in such a way.

I does indeed. A certain cruelty, in my eyes. Whatever small affection I had for our dear Captain is depleting.

[Pause. Her voice is a little rougher than it was a moment ago. Vie's annoyed that she doesn't know where they've gone or how.]

Not that I have proof he is to blame. Kellos, what am I even saying. There's no proof to back my assumptions so I should just shut up.

[Alice nods with certainty, and while it's a terribly difficult feat to keep the stinging tears from trickling down her cheeks, she valiantly manages to keep herself in check. Absalom had said there was little to be accomplished with tears, and Alice thinks he's right. He IS Absalom, after all. He's absolute.

She glances over as Vie's tone changes.
]

Have they gone home, do you think? [They. Not just Godric. THEY.]

[At Alice's words, Vie turns suddenly to look at her. She's been so caught up in her own misery that she hadn't realized Alice might of lost another.]

I hope so.

[But Godric had told Vie he had died, (sunicide), before Elegante. What then happened to him?]

You said 'they'. Who else has..?

[Left us.]

So do I. Home is a good place too be, most of the time.

[Most of the time, and for most people. Alice isn't simple or stupid, she realizes that home for some passengers isn't a good thing.

Swallowing, she meets Vie's look.
]

His name is Tarrant. My, or well, I suppose he's really Mirana's Hatter, but I still consider him my Hatter, all things considered. I was finally just the right size with just the right amount of muchness, but now he seems to be lost.

[Vie doesn't move right away, simply reaching out to drape a loose arm around Alice. It's a hug, if she wants it to be.]

I'm sorry, Alice.

[She wonders how many others have been lost as well. It's strange to of not heard Ben for a while either.]

If not at home, then one can hope they are together. I trust Godric would watch out for your hatter, and any other lost along the way.

[Alice will lean into it, and continue to determinedly keep her eyes dry.]

Perhaps you are right. I should think that if not in Underland, then he would be most safe with Godric.

[She had to believe that was so.]

Thank you for listening.

[If one breaks, the other probably will as well.]

We're friends, aren't we? Looking out for each other is what we do. Besides, you've listened for me as well.

[Alice has to be a little encouraged at that. Oh yes, they were friends - Alice counted herself quite lucky indeed to have found Vie standing alone that day in the not so distant past. It hadn't been terribly long after Alice herself had arrived.]

Yes, yes we are, and that means that we simply must keep each other afloat. Of course, that isn't terribly hard considering we're on a boat and are already afloat, but nonetheless, it still must be done, and shall. I do hope you know that I have no plans on leaving you here by yourself.

[If Alice is sent home, by God she's dragging Vie with her.]

[That hug just got a little tighter. Though they haven't been hanging around one another as much as Vie would like, the bond between the pair was pretty much instant.]

Neither this boat, nor us, will sink.

[She smiles faintly.]

Certainly not. There are issues in my homeland that I must face, but not yet. I should like to remain here at least a little longer, travel the worlds if it's possible.

[She loops an arm around Vie in order to return the gesture. Alice most certainly would like to remedy the fact that they haven't been spending nearly enough time together.. She hasn't gotten out nearly enough in her opinion, and their previous talk of exploring the decks was now a firmly set plan in her mind, minus only the actual date and times.]

Seeing the other worlds would be most wonderful - I would so love to see where all the doors in that little room led! Imagine, if just that one small one led to Underland, where then, did the others lead?

[Travel, explore, learn and search for the ones she's lost, both here and back at home. Having Alice along for the journey would make it a memorable one indeed.]

This Underland you speak of... If it were possible, would you take me with you?

[Alice looks ELATED at that thought.]

Oh, I would love to take you to Underland! It would be quite the honor to introduce you to the Hatter, oh! And Mirana, of course - you must meet the White Queen! And the March Hare and Nivens, and the Bandersnatch! I do hope he doesn't miss me too terribly, I do miss having him around.
