[From the room of one Garrett Hawke bursts a brown haired woman, door flying open as she stumbles to get herself out of the room. Her balance is thrown off, the sudden addition of wings on her back just as much of a surprise as the state of her lover.

Waking up to a big, hairy, dog-like creature draped around her had been something of a surprise. From the room she's just left comes a muffled roar, the sound of a wookie. Back against the wall as much as her wings will allow, Vie opens her journal.]

Tell me I'm not the only one waking up differe--

[The sentence is cut short by another wookie call.]

Hawke, that had better be you.

[Vie's post ends there on account of the hairball is moving toward her.]

There's a... beast in Hawke's room and I think it might be--

[Oh. Hey. Vie sees you there fishman. She blinks at the journal.]

He's covered in hair from head to toe and can't speak, at least not any language I know.

[Vie pauses.]

Have you any idea what you are ah... right now? I've never seen anything like... that.

Perhaps his beard suddenly got the better of him after all these years.

[He pauses too, looking down at his hands.]

I have absolutely no idea whatsoever.

[She laughs at that. Better to find something to joke about than to dwell in all the negative.]

If that's the case then remind me never to borrow whatever he washes it with.

[She clicks on the video feed, showing a rather normal looking Vie with two large dark wings on her back.]

Seems I got off easy.

[Hawke lumbers out into the hallway. When she ran he was confused. When he tried to call out to her he was even more confused. The voice that come out was definitely not his. In fact it sounded like a...well he has no clue what is sounded like but it wasn't human and it was enough to send scare Carver witless. The poor pup was still under the bed whining.

Vie has wings and he's a furball with legs. What's going on?

He tries to speak again but when it's just another strange roar he clasps his hand...paw?...over his mouth.]

[Vie is well aware she can't keep running, at least not until she's sure it's not Hawke. She holds out a hand, palm raised toward him.]

Stop.

[It's like directing traffic. Vie feels silly almost as soon as the word leaves her mouth.]

Hawke. Is that you?

[Not!Audio]

[Hawke doesn't budge. He only nods his head up and down while keeping his hand over his mouth. Trying to speak might not be the best idea right now.]

[She moves to step toward him and almost falls. Vie grips the wall to keep balance, muttering a curse under her breath.]

Okay.

[Think Vie. Think.]

Okay, let's just...

[Why the hell can't she think of anything. The wings on her back twitch and flex, extending a little before falling closed again. This is all going to take some getting used to. Wings she wouldn't mind but if Hawke is left like this then she'll gladly give them up.

Finally an idea hits her.]

[Hawke nods and turns to enter his room, only to immediately smash his head against the top of the door frame. He roars again, and while no one can understand him it should be obvious to everyone that it was some kind of curse. Clearly Hawke isn't used to being so tall.

This time he ducks before entering his room returning moments later with his journal. He roars again but this time the journal translates.]

I'm a giant talking dog.

I don't know, I'd say that sounds like him.

[Varric will stop being amused by what's going on at some point.]

I take it you two didn't escape this place's latest idea of a good time?

I preferred it when he could speak.

[Her tone is a little dry. Vie's pretty damn confused and a little worried right now.]

I've got wings, Varric. Hawke is... I don't know. Far taller than he was and covered in hair.

I do as well, though I think we may be one of the few who do.

[But his amusement tones down a little, because it is something of a cause for concern.]

Apparently whoever's responsible for the things that happened here determined that we'd gone too long without something to unsettle us. Are you the same, other than the wings?

[Which leads her to her next question. Varric doesn't seem too bothered by all of this at all.]

[And then he switches to video, because nothing like a demonstration for an answer.]

I made out the best of all of us so far, it seems. Dwarf to human isn't that much of a stretch.

[Hawke roars. It doesn't translate to anything though. This is just Hawke roaring at Varric.]
