[ 004 ] [ Audio ]
[The first sound to grace the airwaves was a yawn, moments later followed by a voice.]
I wake to find a storm on the borders, on the approach, it would seem. It might be in our best interests to not wander outside too much. A sandstorm is worse, but a dust storm, assuming that's what this even is, can be near choking.
[She might have lived through a few of those in her lifetime.]
What I want to know is wher--
[The question lingers as to just where the dust is coming from, but as she was about to ask, Vie noticed something... wasn't quite right. She switched to her native tongue, words more alert than those before.]
What in hell is that!?
[End transmission.]

It's still spreading. Not as fast as it was, I don't think, but still spreading all the same.
[At his question, Vie nods.]
To no avail.
[Her Keep tattoo is on her left hip, usually hidden from view but right now, plain to see.]
Re: [commentlog]
Did you do something ? Anything? Sleep funny at all?
[The pirate paces around Vie, looking to see where the text is leading up to.]
Does it hurt at all?
[commentlog]
[Both expression and tone are frustrated. Vie wouldn't care so much if she knew what the heck was going on.]
I was out last night, came back here, went to sleep and just woke up now like this.

Honestly I don't believe I've come across a thing like this within my extensive travels.
As weird as it is, and it is weird, love. It's not causing you harm, it's not washing off and it behaves like the bloody tattoos we've already got. I'm disinclined to attempt to do something to remove it, which will probably end up to be painful. Most assuredly, not pleasurable.
And I do believe it is slowing down some, is it not?
[Here Vie, have a Jack peering at your shoulder again, moving your hair out of the way to do so.]
no subject
Just as long as it stops, Jack. I don't want this all over me. I've enough marks given without my permission than to warrant anymore.
[It's not his fault, and she's not sure if it's hers, but Vie has had enough of this in her lifetime. Moving her hair to a twist on the side opposite Jack, she lets him see the tattoo on the back of her right shoulder. 'Slave', the alien writing would say were it translated.]
You could say I've had enough of tattoos.
no subject
I agree. One mark, unwilling, is one mark too many.
[That brand still burns sometimes, doesn't it Jack, what of those scars over your heart? Pursing his lips, he can not help the finger that traces the tattoo upon her other shoulder. He might not be able to read it, but he wouldn't need to with how Vie reacted. Unwanted is the same no matter what tongue you speak. ]
I am truly sorry. If I had the powers vested in me, I would take it away in an instant.
[There is no padding here to play with. It is the plain and simple truth, meant from whatever depth of soul the pirate has.]

Motion steady and natural, she pauses a moment while his fingers trace her skin and then turns to face him, her own hand reaching to hold his arm just above the wrist and give it a gentle squeeze. She meets his gaze and holds it.]
Thank you, Jack. I mean that.
[That said, she lets go and turns to the table in her room. A moment later, she's tying her hair back that he might not distract her with it again.]
no subject
The captain watches her turn to the table to fix her hair and automatically moves to help. He spies the brush on the table and picks it up, likely to attempt to brush her hair out. Fancy that, he knows how to use a brush.]
no subject
Ah.
[Have yourself a questioning look, Jack.]
no subject
So Jack does, what Jack does best, and misdirects. He leans and takes a step back and holds the brush up eyeing it as though it was the finest piece of jewelery. This way and that.]
Fine craftsmanship here. This here. This brush.
[Now he looks at Vie, looking at him.]
Wot? I've hair! Quite a bit of it in fact.
[And he's never brushed it since he raised the Pearl from the seabed. Your eyes were playing tricks on you love. It's just a man holding a brush and admiring it! He wasn't about to do something stupid.]
no subject
Ah yes, I can see that you brush your hair often.
[With a smile, she drops the dread and focuses on tying her own hair into a loose knot.]
Done.
[It's about then that she realizes she's still not wearing a proper shirt. Whoops. Vie bites her lip and moves to pass him, intent on getting to the shirt she'd discarded the night before.]
no subject
Ah, um. Well. I used to....
[Nervous? Jack? Nope! You've got the wrong man! He's just stepping out of the way to let Vie get to what needs to be getting. Well this turned awkward.]
no subject
I'm kidding, Jack.
[Her gaze flickers to his hat.]
And I'm not about to take your hat.
[Pause. Smile.]
At least not right now.
no subject
See, now. You just can't be going and taking a man's hat.
[Pouting pirate is pouting.]
It's... improper!
[Yep still pouting. He's on to you Vie! ]
