[ 003 ] [ Audio / Commentlog ] [ Kirovian --> Translated Text ]
[Sitting on a ledge part way up one of the towers is Vie, her Journal in one hand and a half consumed bottle of liquor in the other. Since the trial she's been keeping quiet, avoiding the crowd and deliberately making herself scarce. There was a lot on her mind, and the trial had proven to be the shock her relaxed had been waiting for. A reminder that this place was not safe, and that it's people were just as much a risk as the ones she knew from home.
Journal open, she skims the page before muttering in her native tongue.]
It would seem no matter where I go, nothing changes. The same corruption lingers.
My question to you, all of you, is a matter of species. What are you? Where do you come from? How alike is this world to your own?
[That's it. Vie falls silent. Anyone walking around outside might notice the girl sitting on the tower ledge, but try to get close and she'll climb away.]

[Because those raptors are annoying.]
I'm not sure how much looks would have to do with anything. Turians are militaristic... soldiers, mostly. Pretty damn strict about it too.
[Garrus snorts.]
I'd miss the warm weather too. Turians don't like the cold. Or, at least I never have.
[Audio + translated text]
[Stupid Gods. Stupid Valei from forever ago. Unfair as she finds it that Vie is being punished for the acts of her ancestors, it is the way it is and there is little she can do to change it.]
I was fond of the cold, at times. Snow always started a pleasure, but sometimes a little too much. It took some time to adjust to the heat of the southern desert plains.

[He doesn't comment on the 'gods' part. His people don't really have 'gods', and Garrus never felt they were good for anything but curses.]
I hated sow. Always gets under your scales.
[Audio + translated text]
[She might be a little bitter about that. Vie turns her attention to the weather talk.]
I've no scales so getting snow under them is not something I've experienced.
[A pause. Vie smiles a little.]
Snow down the back of your trousers is never fun, however, so I guess I can imagine what it would be like.
[Audio + translated text]
[You can just hear the shrug. But he'll talk about the weather, if that's what she wants.]
It's cold. And uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend it. Even on a dare.
[Audio + translated text]
[False gods all over the place with oblivious needy people bowing to them while the clerics take their money. Real gods falling silent for lack of faith. It's a sad thought, for Vie at least.]
Noted. Should the chance ever arise I'll be sure to decline.
[Audio + translated text]
[It's also hard to explain. He'd never even discussed it with Shepard.]
Smart plan.
[Audio + translated text]
... Not that it matters here. In fact, I'm still adjusting to being able to walk freely, at least to a degree.
[Audio + translated text]
... Meaning?
[Audio + translated text]
[Vie can't help but respect Garrus. He seems to understand more than most. Or at least knows how to listen.]
Meaning that not all are born into a worthy clan. That every ruler has servants, or in this case slaves.
[Audio + translated text]
... Slavery is outlawed in Citadel space. It still happens, but the authorities crack down on it as best they can. Slavers are scum, pure and simple. Same as anyone who owns a slave.
[Audio + translated text]
[Calm down Vie. None of this is Garrus' fault. She stops a moment before continuing.]
Though I am glad to hear that somewhere out there, someone dared to fight it.
[Audio + translated text]
[Good job, Garrus. Think before you speak, next time.]
An entire galactic community, if that helps any.
[Audio + translated text]
It's alright. That is... good news to hear.
Thank you.
[Audio + translated text]
[Audio + translated text]
1423. I fear you're a little further ahead than I.
[Audio + translated text]
Yeah. Just a little bit, huh? Who knows... you might catch up someday.
[Audio + translated text]
[Well would you listen to that? She sounds a little less neutral. Nice work, Garrus.]
[Audio + translated text]
[HAH -- victory is his.]
[Audio + translated text]
What's your name?
[Audio + translated text]
[Audio + translated text]
[Holy crap that's a strong accent she's got going when she says her name.]
Call me Vie.
[Audio + translated text]
... I think I'll stick with that, thanks. Less chance of getting it mangled.
